A Message from the Principal. (June 2017) Dear Parents/Guardians: As the school year comes to close, I wanted to extend my thanks to you for all your support as we worked through the transition planning for the closure of Rideau High School. There have been many questions about the impact of the accommodation review decisions and I am pleased to provide you with an update. Student Learning At the school, we have worked hard to maintain regular routines and create opportunities for students to make connections to their new school. Managing transitions is important and parents might find the information in our helpful. Throughout the month of June, we have held ceremonies and activities to celebrate the accomplishments of our current students, and those who have called Rideau home over the past 60 years. We had a leaving ceremony for our undergraduate students, a closing ceremony for Manido Onji (The Lodge), and will formally close the school after Commencement on June 30.
These were wonderful celebrations of the strength of character, history, and community at Rideau High School. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed or participated in these events. Building and Records Access After the end of classes, the building will be closed except for the Main Office and Student Services. We will be operating on summer hours, 8:00am to 2:00pm, weekdays. Arrangements have been made to move furniture, equipment and instructional materials to Gloucester High School or where appropriate, to another school in need. Student Files and Contact Information All student files will be redirected to their new school site. This includes paper and electronic records.
